Awit sa Seminarista

Posted by maradjao magbalantay on 10th March 2008

Seminarista

I. Taas ang panglantaw sa mata sa katilingban
Dili gwapo, dili ambongan, apan bawi man ka’y buotan.
Ampo ug tuon maoy puhunan niining kinabuhi;
Bugtong bahandi, kay gusto ma’ng magpari.

II “Seminarista” ang tawag nila kanamo
Nga nag-eskwela ubos sa giya ni Maria;
Kami gi-amoma sa kaparian, maestra’g kusinera;
Kami gianad sa pagpaka-og bulad.

Refrain:

Apan ayaw’g kumpyansa sa mga seminarista,
Kamong mga batan-on nga dalaga
Hilabi na kadtong mga tisay ug gwapa;
Ayaw’g kumpyansa, ayaw usab tintala.

III “Seminarista” ang tawag nila kanamo
Nga nag-eskwela ubos sa giya ni Maria;
Mga imbitasyon dili gayud kanamo palabyon;
Huma’g panga-on kami kaon gihapon (ref.)

IV. Hala, Inday, Dodong, Manong, Manang, mangadye na kita;
I-ampo ta’ng seminarista nga unta makaagwanta.
Dili gayud sayon ang kinabuhi sa mga parionon;
Daghan temtasyon ssa bugnaw’ng kagabhion. (ref.)

(Ending)

Ayaw’g kumpyansa, ayaw usab tintala…
Ayaw’g kumpyansa, hinoon higugma-a
……SEMINARISTA

I have chosen you

When I heard the word priest I have no idea about it. But when I became an altar server, it was then that I learn what is to be priest. I enter seminary because I would like to serve God and his people. Eventhough I discern it’s not easy to follow the teachings of Christ, Being a priest has a difficult task.

There’s one question that bothering me now. “Am I worthy..? Can I do these things..? But I conclude, “Why not” ? If I have faith in God and I’m willing to face courageously all the consequences and hindrances just to attain the priesthood vocation. Priesthood is a life journey, so it requires perseverance. Pursuing to walk until I can reach the direction of becoming a priest. And being responsible is the best thing I can do to make my dream come true.
Responsibility has a great rule in fulfilling this dream. Obeying, the rules in the seminary is one of our major task that must be observe. At this stage, I can say that I am not really worthy to be a follower of Christ. But as what Jesus say “I did not come for the righteous but for the sinners”.

I am willing to change just to follow Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life.
Being a pre-collegian seminarian is I think the starting point of walking into the path of priestly life.. Now, I wanted to reach those dream and continue fulfilling the journey, yet the future is so uncertain. With firm belief, I can conquer the trials. At the end of the journey I can find real happiness with my creator..

I took the example of the Cross as my way of life. For me, the Cross is the way towards sanctity. And with this, to become a saint is not easy.

Our journey towards sanctity starts when we love. It is in loving that we can find the courage to become saints. It is not easy to become a saint. Saints were also humans, too. But if we love Jesus in the brother, then we can be one like them.
God loves you

My Quest for Happiness

The world as a vacuum space for the living and the non-living organism for the past 1000 years is now became a global village, sophisticated with telecommunications devices and modern means of transportations. New innovations are built. Connecting lives has been boosted: by just a simple click of the mouse on the computer and typing message on keypads, one could see their families and friends smiles and hear their sweet voices saying hello! These material things would somehow satisfy once needs but never provide a lasting satisfaction which everyone is craving for.

When I first had a cellular phone, I was really intensified with happiness. I don’t want to miss every single second of not holding it and using it for my own satisfaction. I considered it as my friend. Without my phone my day will not be complete. As time flew swiftly, new models of phones were being offered in the market. The eagerness that I have for my cellular phone was gradually lost. Then, I craved for something new.

Furthermore, I realized that happiness built with material possessions is not the vehicle that will lead me to a true happiness. There are just like candies given to a child by his/her mother as gift for his/her achievement by reading perfectly the ABC’s.

It has been said that, “in every man success there is a woman behind it.” When I first hear this seducing line, I was really seduced. I stood firmly with this belief, and so I searched and I found a woman whom I thought would be a reason for my success. Needless, to say, success precedes happiness. Without any thinking for the possible outcome, I forced my self to be in the midst of risk. I engaged in several intimate relationships from different woman who have different personalities. I experienced vis-à-vis the pleasures of making romance, believing a fallacy that maybe one of them could let me sleep in bed of roses. However, on the other sense, Yes! They able to make me sleep in a bed of happiness but, it was only a snapped. After those mishaps, I realized that, “in every man’s failure, woman is behind it.”

Those experiences are living proof of one paradoxes of happiness. I need more than pleasure in order for me to live the best possible life. In this status quo, my quest for happiness has shriveled to hunt for bliss- “a spiritual happiness and a life protected from bad feelings, rid from pain and dubious.” However, those experiences can foster the qualities of happiness I’ve been looking for because I do believe that only drastic situations can force you to take on the painful process of change and this process will lead us to eternal happiness.

MY LAST 3 STEPS

In this most challenging world, life of a person became more complicated. There are so many curve ways and road bends that human being experience. It makes them weaker in terms of dealing life to the extent. Furthermore, man’s faith is also being affected. It tends man to fall from the brink of doubts and fears. It results man to experience great misfortune.

In the pace of modern living as quoted to be challenging, faith is required. It is in faith man becomes stronger, determined, and goal-fighter. It is man weapon against the warriors of darkness. It gives them the strength to walk continually in the aisles of thorns, believing that ahead of it awaits the sweetest and relaxing scent of roses.

Looking back in my high school days, I experienced a lot of tribulations which measured my faith to God. One of those unforgettable experiences was when I joined the most prestigious competition in the province, the search for “The Outstanding Students of Surigao 2005.” Thirty witty challengers from the most competent high schools in Surigao del Norte joined the said competition. I felt nothingness against them. I began to underestimate my self.
faith

When my name was called to be interviewed by a panel of jurors, at first I felt nervous. My hands were shaken and it seemed my body was freezing in a 0 degree Celsius. My heart beats faster and faster. Before my last 3 steps towards the entrance hall of San Sebastian College of Law, where the interview and talent presentation took place, my mom came wearing an inspiring smile which was really inspired me. She uttered a simple but soul-touching message, “have faith…You can do it son…” Those words injected willfully in my mind like a vaccine. Then, my 0 degree Celsius body temperature began to increase and reached to the boiling point of level.

I was in my confident zone at that moment. I took my last 3 steps with a big and tantalizing smile and a thought of giving my very best as if it was my last day on earth. Presto! I did it. After a week I received a letter from the Phil. JYCEES, who sponsored the competition, telling me my great victory. I won!!!

My greatest victory, however, is not winning the TOSS, but gaining the most priceless award in the universe that only one in a million could ever receive the “FAITH.”

Words of Wisdom:
Faith is a kind of knowing; it is different from hope. My faith is that life is purposeful; of that I’m sure. There is a God, there is intelligence, there is consciousness. And behind all of this, there is incredible compassion.” -John denver-
