“Music is my life, it is a reflection of what I go through”

Music Director

“We must keep our feet on the ground as we try to reach for the stars “

Yuyyu Guzman is the choirmaster of MMCS. “Yuyyu” or “Kuya Yuyyu “, as he is affectionally called by the members has been with various choir around Diocese of Surigao for more than six (6) years serving as churh musician. When MMCS welcomed him as its choirmaster in year 2001, Yuyyu institutionalized the TTB vocal arrangement of the group. Practicing every voice spectrum is not an easy task for kuya Yuyyu because not all of the choir members have background and training in music. Because of this, he encouraged the members that technical prowess in music is not all there is when someone who worships sing for Him - one must also have the heart to praise Him to the fullest. He started to patiently teach each voice spectrums their respective melodies before they are finally group together to see if harmony is achieved. A painstaking process but, according to kuya Yuyyu, hearing the group sing well melts his tiredness away.. He is born on December 1970, a graduate of University of San Jose-Recoletos with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Marketing and Business.

hi. do u happen to have the chords for the song “Kalig-on sa Pagtoo?” thanks.

  12. patsadakarajaw Says:

    Hi,

Good day. I am interested in singing. I heard your liturgical sequence during last year’s concelebrated mass during San Nicolas fiesta. I greatly appreciated your singing of the Nez Marcelo’s Santos and Cayabyab’s Kordero. Those songs are regular fare in Butuan. I really wanted to sing with a all male choir. MMCS choir fits that description but I cant be a member of the group.

I have been a resident of Surigao for sometime now and am very sorry to say no choir group really interest me except MMCS. But you sing only occasionally and exclusively. I hope that if you intend to form an all male ala Himig Heswita style, I am very interested to enlist. BTW, I guess Huwag Limutin is a very nice communion song for Easter.

    God Bless.

Kuya, I just wanna say thank you for publishing my literary composition. And for all your efforts for the improvement of the seminarians word of thanks is not enough. I don’t know how to repay you for all the good things you did for us. May God in his kindness repay you with the gift that you will never experience here on earth. I wish you all the best in life and God’s care and providence pour upon you through His grace and compassion. I hope you will stay as what we all know you as the best person we ever meet in our entire life.

    I Love You

I love you ’cause that’s just what I am
I could never turn away from you
    and leave you all alone
yes, i love you though you have gone your way
I could never leave you all alone
    and leave you way behind

    Refrain:
Though you weigh no more than dust
placed on the scales you rise
Though your worth is just as much as sand
I love you just the same
I am love, I am love
Though your sins be dark as scarlet
I will turn them white as snow
Though your sins be red as crimson
they mean nothing more to me
For I made you and your meant for me
    for all eternity
I have loved you, yes I love you
    I always will love you

I love you ’cause that’s just what I am
I could never show you greater love
than lay my life for you
Yes, I love you, what more proof do you ask
Show me any love that’s greater than
the love I’ve shown to you

    Bosconian ka ba?

  17. channel Says:

….kuya pwede hingi ako ng lyrics sa “pagiging bukas palad…tanx ya!..

  18. yuyyu Says:

    Panalangin Sa Pagiging Bukas Palad

  35. ---- Says:

kuya, i just want to correct my article bout practicality and concsience, kindly edit my article. here is the correct one:

We are standing not only in a place of smiles and joys
which everyone craves for but also in a place of tears and sorrows which everyone suffers. We are living in a world of two opposites, like a coin with two faces, the first face pictures out happiness and the second face pictures out the agony caused by sufferings. Worse, because we rarely resemble happiness in our faces but always paint a panting face not only external but also internal. This is a mere fact and to deny this fact is a big foolishness. Suffering is apparently experienced by many, either simple or complicated one. We suffer from financial constraints, emotional breakdown, mental deficiency and physical loopholes. Even tasting an affordable happiness one must still to suffer before tasting it. Very awful, isn’t it?

Hence, from this pathetic fact many learned how to deal with it. Practicality is the solution. Practicality means an acceptance. To accept the fact that we suffer and so we must be practical. Many practical individuals say that, “if death is everywhere, why not make profit out of it?” If we are living in a temporary world, why not make a temporary decision in evacuating ourselves from the suffocating sufferings and move towards the most breathily happiness? Even if it’s just a temporary, at least we could experience how lovely to breathe.

Thus, my stand to this issue is not really against conscience, rather, a mature stand of a practical person who accepted the nature of this temporary world, that I suffer and so I must be practical. However, conscience is important. But even how powerful our conscience is in correcting ourselves, still we cannot hide to the visible reality that we are sinners. We are still incapable of upbringing our conscience to work within us because we have already cliff in our personhood. And worse, because as we enlightened by the light of education from the obscure reality the more we became “evil.”

As synopsis, we are living not in finality but in a temporal episode of our real existence. We must not be afraid in making practical decisions, it just mean that you are true and you are not putting any pretentious masks in your face. We just have to be optimist in dealing with this world and learning from every episode of our life is the best thing to do.

To those judgmental, “shame on you guys!” you are like dogs eating foods without getting full but getting fool. Be yourself! Do not hide…

  51. gun Says:

Hello kuya…kindly save this reflection of mine.
“God as an event in my life”

Empirically, I have the whole library of events that happened in my life since the day my eyes were opened from the realities outside of me. However, only few of these events were my encounter with God.
In nexus with, one of my encounters with God and deemed, for myself, as “God as an event” was during the second year of my seminary formation. I decided to bend in the seminary bringing the confidence that God will never forsake me. As Jesus says to his disciples, “Come, Follow me…I will give you rest.” The assurance of rest turned in a different way. Who do you think could dare resting in a scenario wherein you cannot take the final examination because of unpaid tuition fees? It sounds awful, right? Yes, I was prohibited to take the final examination because of that reason. It was the most hopeless and depress event in my life. However, it was a blessing in disguise when I went to the guidance office for the signing of clearance (even if I was hopeless). I met Sr. Hernandez for counseling. I shared my problem and eventually she responded and helped me to solve it. Graciously, I took the final exam.
This event resembles the famous story of Mary Steven, “Footprints in the sand”. I would like to quote Jesus reply, “My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I Carried You.” Hence, God can be found in every lovely experience in our lives, either through circumstances or through people around us whose God’s instruments of His loving presence.
